Nutrition in Women

A section of Nutrients (ISSN 2072-6643).

Section Information

Arguably, nutrition and food are at the epicenter of both health and disease. The Section Nutrition in Women of Nutrients aims to publish high-level, peer-reviewed research on nutrition, dietary, and food approaches to understand the impact of nutrition on women’s health and disease across the lifespan. Papers in this section include basic and discovery science studies, clinical studies, and epidemiological investigations involving women only or studies of sex differences. Consistent with the journal Nutrients, we welcome original research articles, reviews, and commentaries. This section should be of interest to registered dietitians, researchers, public health specialists, epidemiologists, nutritionists, policy makers, and advocates around health issues in women. We expect a broad range of topics to be covered, such as:

  • Nutrition in youth and girls
  • Puberty
  • Pregnancy and pregnancy complications
  • Gestational diabetes
  • Lactation
  • Maternal–infant nutrition
  • Interaction of female sex hormones and nutrition
  • Supplementation in women
  • Polycystic ovary syndrome
  • Dietary intervention studies
  • Clinical nutrition for women
  • Developmental programming of health and disease
  • Sex differences
  • Breast cancer
  • Healthy aging
  • Menopause and related issues (e.g., bone health)
  • Novel nutritional approaches to prevent and/or treatment diseases in women
