Asia Pacific Nutrigenomics Nutrigenetics Organisation (APNNO)
The science of nutrigenomics and nutrigenetics is important because of its great potential to improve health at the individual, genetic-subgroup and population level. The application of this science in the Asia-Pacific region is still in its infancy and the knowledge base is small. The great cultural and genetic diversity in the Asia-Pacific region makes the task of improving knowledge in these fields even more challenging. Therefore, there is a need to bring together researchers and health professionals into a collaborative framework to foster this novel field of science and develop proper tools for its translation into practice.
- Promote the science of nutrigenomics and nutrigenetics in the Asia-Pacific region.
- Facilitate communication and collaboration amongst researchers, clinicians and nutrition industry working in this field in our region.
- Organisation of the biennial Asia-Pacific Nutrigenomics & Nutrigenetics conference.
- A thriving and collaborative nutrigenomics and nutrigenetics research community in the Asia-Pacific region
- Consumers have a better understanding of the science of nutrigenomics and nutrigenetics and how it could be used to benefit their health and well-being
- Health professionals are properly educated and accredited to utilise nutrigenomics and nutrigenetics science responsibly and appropriately in their practice
- Nutrition Industry is better informed to provide safe and effective products appropriate for personalised nutrition.

The CIEAH comes under the auspices of the Research Institute of Biomedical and Health Sciences (IUIBIS), of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC).
CIEAH’s aim is to develop and promote research projects on human hydration and healthy lifestyles, with the following objectives:
- To organize and conduct training activities for professional development, such as courses, seminars or lectures in the field of hydration.
- To prepare reports and conduct technical studies related to hydration in the context of promoting healthy lifestyles.
- To promote scientific research to better understand the hydration role on health, well-being and physical and cognitive performance.
- To support monograph publications and technical papers on related topics.
- To facilitate the exchange of information, opinions and knowledge about hydration among scientists, health professionals and also among the population in order to help them lead a healthy lifestyle, especially in Spain and Latin America
- To conduct sociological research to better understand current consumer knowledge, attitudes and behavior toward hydration.
- To develop tools to improve research and development of recommendations on hydration.
- To promote the importance of maintaining an adequate level of hydration and provide information to improve awareness and knowledge about good hydration practices, especially in those people at risk of being inadequately hydrated (e.g., there are specific hydration needs during pregnancy, while breastfeeding, physical activity, childhood and for the elderly people).
- To collaborate with other institutions to advance research on hydration and applied knowledge in order to assist and support health professionals and at-risk populations.
The activities of the CIEAH will be beneficial to the community in the area of human hydration, stimulate the flow of knowledge and technology between universities, research institutions, companies and markets, promoting development and encouraging innovation.
