Dear Colleagues,
Almost one third of the planet’s land surface is currently used for agricultural activities (FAO, 2014). These agricultural activities produce large amounts of organic residues and waste that can be used in various sustainable ways, e.g., in energy production or as biomaterials and biochemicals. It is well known that the use of agricultural biomass for the above purposes has increased over the last years. However, the increased use of agricultural biomass has generated a large number of issues that need to be tackled. At the top of this agenda are issues related to sustainability and supply chain management, as they can provide flexibility and competitive advantages. The present Special Issue of Energies aims to collect innovative ideas, solutions, decision-making frameworks and tools, experimental research, and state-of-the-art studies on sustainable biomass supply chain management in the agricultural sector.

For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Energies is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
