Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Injuries to the acromioclavicular (AC) joint are common. The diagnosis and management of acute and chronic AC joint dislocations need to be well-stated, but still, contradictions exist regarding the definition of a chronic AC joint injury and the timing of surgery. Although most recent papers favor anatomic repair or reconstruction with augmentation using grafts, focusing on both horizontal and vertical instability over previous rigid non-anatomic fixation methods, there is still no strong evidence recommending one treatment modality over another. Other controversial issues include the usage of synthetic ligaments or grafts (allo or auto), open or arthroscopic techniques and surgeries, or conservative treatment for less severe cases such as type III injuries.

The aim and scope of this Special Issue is to discuss and shed light on these abovementioned controversial issues.

Preclinical studies (anatomical, biomechanical, and technical reports), clinical studies (outcome, registry data, epidemiological, case series), and review articles are welcome, with a focus on original articles.
