Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Treatment strategies for head and neck cancer depend on the histological type of cancer, stage and health status of the patient. Common treatment options include surgery, radiation therapy and chemotherapy. Chemotherapy includes anticancer agents, molecularly targeted drugs and immunotherapy. Most head and neck cancers are squamous cell carcinomas, and these treatment strategies are well established for head and neck squamous cell carcinomas. On the other hand, non-squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck encompasses a wide variety of histopathologic forms, and the frequency of occurrence is also rare. Therefore, the treatment strategy has not yet been established and it is necessary to accumulate many treatment reports in order to establish the strategies.

In this issue, we planned a special topic on the treatment of non-squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck. We look forward to receiving many submissions.
