Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Nitrogen ligands (N ligands) are key players in a wide diversity of fields, namely, coordination, metal–organic, catalysis (both homogeneous and heterogeneous), inorganic and bioinorganic, materials, functionalization, supramolecular assemblies, electrochemistry, and C–H bond activation. This Special Issue intends to highlight the roles of N ligands in modern chemistry, showing their ability as components of more complex assemblies such as MOFs (metal organic frameworks) and dendrimers. Thus, in this Special Issue, we invite new and important perspectives, approaches, and applications of potential nitrogen ligands in catalysis.

Based on the above considerations, submissions to this Special Issue are welcome in the form of original research papers, reviews, or communications that highlight promising recent research and novel trends in the field of N ligands in catalysis. These could either encompass the (photo)catalytic transformation of various organic compounds to value-added. Reactions could be in liquid or gas phase, employing a variety of catalysts. The topic also concerns the development of new catalysts’ synthetic routes for the abovementioned catalytic reactions, as well as the establishment of structure–property relationships for the understanding of the reaction mechanisms. Moreover, studies dealing with the use of physical activation methods (e.g., ultrasound, microwave, ball-milling, non-thermal plasma, UV, electrochemistry) either for selective and total catalytic reactions or for the design of N-ligands with improved characteristics and catalytic properties in view of the topic of this Special Issue are also very welcome.

Author Benefits of publishing in Catalysis

Open Access—free for readers, with article processing charges (APC) paid by authors or their institutions.

High Visibility: indexed by the Science Citation Index Expanded (Web of Science), Scopus (2019 CiteScore: 3.7) and other databases.

Rapid Publication: manuscripts are peer-reviewed and a first decision provided to authors approximately 11.1 days after submission; acceptance to publication is undertaken in 2.9 days (median values for papers published in this journal in the first half of 2020).

Impact Factor: 3.520 (2019); 5-Year Impact Factor: 3.708 (2019) An article processing charge of 2000 CHF (APC) will apply to each accepted paper, though early bird submissions before 31 December 2020 to this Special Issue will benefit from a lower APC of 1800 CHF. Furthermore, the possibility of using reviewers vouchers from MDPI is available.

Submission Deadline: 30 June 2021

In the hope that you will consider our invitation, we would be grateful if you could inform us of your positive decision by emailing Sonic Zhao.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Catalysts is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2700 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
