Dear Colleagues,
Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a demyelinating, inflammatory and neurodegenerative disease of the CNS, presenting with multiple non-specific symptoms. Cognitive decline is a symptom commonly seen in MS and is widely recognized as the main cause of job loss and disability. Investigating imaging and serum biomarkers associated with cognitive impairment is a current area of interest. The cognitive reserve that may justify the differences in cognitive loss between individuals with the same disease has been a recent research focus. Although there have yet to be approved treatments, different approaches, such as medications, exercise and cognitive rehabilitation, have been explored. Moreover, disease-modifying therapies have a variable effect on cognition in MS.
In this Special Issue, we welcome manuscripts, including original research and reviews, that address a wide range of topics related to MS-associated cognitive decline. We are particularly interested in articles that provide insight into novel biomarkers of cognitive loss, as well as innovative therapeutic interventions that may stabilize or improve the MS-associated cognitive decline.
