Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Emerging and naturally occurring infectious diseases from viral sources are constantly threatening animals and humans. Animal models of infectious disease have been instrumental in the advancement of human virus infection control and will continue to be in the future. Although some animal models have been used in the development of new antibiotics and antivirals as well as in vaccines for new emerging diseases, animal models are necessary to understand the basic pathobiology of infection.

In this Special Issue of Pathogens, we invite you to submit research articles, review articles, and short communications highlighting the importance of experimental and spontaneous animal models of human virus diseases and/or describing new models of human viral infections. We hope that your critical contributions to this Special Issue will ultimately lead to an improved understanding of viral diseases in humans.
