Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

With the rapid changes in lifestyle taking place in modern society, the incidence of metabolic disorders is increasing year by year, and its increasing prevalence has become a serious public health problem seriously affecting human health and safety worldwide. Environmental contaminants contribute to the occurrence and development of metabolic disorders. Studies have shown that increases in environmental endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) such as phthalates and persistent organic pollutants (POPs) can lead to altered metabolic levels in humans, which can affect physical health. Therefore, more research is needed to determine the relationships between new environmental exposures and metabolic disorders, reveal the underlying pathophysiological mechanisms and find strategies aimed toward preventing metabolic disorders. This Special Issue is dedicated to the effects of environmental contaminants on body metabolism and metabolic disorders and encourages more research to focus on environmental contaminants that cause an increased incidence of metabolic disorders. It further aims to elucidate the causal relationships between and potential mechanisms of environmental factors and metabolic disorders to provide a comprehensive overview of the associations between environmental exposures and metabolic disorders. This Special Issue will focus on the effects of environmental contaminants on metabolic disorders, as well as recent advances in identifying metabolic mechanisms. In addition, this Special Issue is also dedicated to research related to skin metabolism, investigating the effects of environmental, behavioral, and physiological differences on the skin and its metabolic mechanisms. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to: environmental contaminants and metabolic mechanisms; environmental exposures and metabolic disorders; metabolomic analysis of environmental contaminants; environmental epidemiology; intervention strategies; biomarkers and risk assessment; skin metabolism; skin Lipids.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Metabolites is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2700 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
