Dear Colleagues,
Although phytochemicals have been used for medical practices for thousands of years, recently, their biological effects have been determined in detail at the molecular and gene expression level. We still need published scientific evidence to enhance our understanding of their effects and side effects in order to improve our health and recover from injuries and diseases.
Phytochemicals can be used in multiple ways, e.g., as drugs, drug carriers, supplements to suppress the degradation of drugs, or supplements to improve or maintain our health. In this Special Issue, “Recent Research of Phytochemicals in Health and Disease”, we invite papers that focus on the effects/side effects of phytochemicals, delivery methods and formulation of phytochemicals to enhance their effects, effects on brain function (anxiety, cognitive function, etc.), regeneration and wound healing, and treatment and/or prevention from diseases. Papers can also focus on the use of phytochemicals as drugs, as supplements for drugs to improve the effects of drugs, and as supplements to improve or maintain healthy conditions. To what extent phytochemicals contribute to our health Finally, there are phytochemicals with psychoactive effects, along with others that evoke allergic reactions, digestive problems, and/or fatigue. All of these topics can be addressed in original papers or reviews.
