Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The central nervous system (CNS) serves as the epicentre of human neurological function, orchestrating intricate processes that allow us to perceive, think, move, and experience emotions. However, when the delicate balance of the CNS is disrupted, it can result in a myriad of debilitating disorders that profoundly impact the lives of individuals and their families. From neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's, to neuropsychiatric disorders such as schizophrenia and depression, to traumatic brain injuries, the burden of CNS disorders on global health is immense.

Advancements in molecular and cellular biology, genetics, neuroscience, and personalized medicine have significantly enhanced our understanding of CNS disorders in recent years. Researchers and clinicians are uncovering the intricate web of molecular mechanisms that underlie these disorders, revealing the complex interplay between genetic, epigenetic, and environmental factors. Moreover, this growing knowledge is driving the development of novel therapeutic approaches that aim to provide personalized treatments that are tailored to the specific needs of each patient.

We invite researchers to contribute with papers that cover a range of areas, from the molecular basis of CNS disorders to the development of personalized therapies. We welcome research that utilizes molecular techniques to identify and validate novel biomarkers associated with CNS disorders. Such biomarkers hold immense potential for early detection, accurate diagnosis, and prognosis. Additionally, articles on predictive and prognostic biomarkers, which can guide treatment decisions and monitor responses, are also welcome.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. International Journal of Molecular Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. There is an Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal. For details about the APC please see here. Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
