Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

In this Special Issue, we will explore the intricate interplay between ionic liquids and cellular processes within our engaging research topic, titled "Multidimensional Impact of Ionic Liquids on Cellular Dynamics: Integrating Cell Physiology, Molecular Biology and Biophysics." This extensive exploration is meticulously designed to unveil the myriad effects of ionic liquids, extending from fundamental cellular functions to the intricate realms of molecular and biophysical dynamics. We will create a comprehensive understanding by seamlessly integrating insights from cell physiology, molecular biology, and biophysics, providing a holistic perspective on how ionic liquids shape and influence cellular dynamics. In the realm of biological applications, challenges such as the toxicity, environmental impacts, and efficiency of traditional solvent systems impede progress. Innovative solutions, namely bioinspired ionic liquids and deep eutectic solvents, have emerged to overcome these hurdles. These solvents mimic biological efficiency, ensuring their compatibility with biomolecules, reduced toxicity, and precise control over interactions. Their transformative advantages over conventional solvents in biological applications are profound. The integration of bioinspired solvents has the potential to revolutionize the processes involved in regenerative medicine, wound healing, bone regeneration, and biological implants, offering eco-friendly alternatives for biomolecule stability, thus enhancing yields of bioactive compounds. This paradigm shift optimizes processes and promotes sustainability across various biological fields.  This research topic extends a warm invitation to authors, encouraging them to contribute to the unfolding narrative of ionic liquids in cellular science. It serves as a dynamic platform for showcasing the diverse dimensions of this impactful intersection.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Cells is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2700 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
