Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

In this manuscript, the authors proposed a method of maize harvester throughout measurement in the combination of operation condition monitoring, data time calibration and multiple regression analysis, it is a topic of interest to the researchers in related areas, the research conducted by the author is innovative and has practical significance for precise agriculture. But the manuscript still needs some improvement before acceptance for publication, my detailed comments are as follows:

(1) The manuscript has repeatedly mentioned the feeding throughout and the feeding rate, please explain the difference between the two concepts. And if they are the same, the concept expressed in the full article should be consistent.

(2) As for the power monitoring for mechanically-driven working parts, the measurement accuracy of the torque or the power sensor should be pointed out.

(3) In page 3, there are inconsistencies between the text description and the figure markings about the location of the inside-header sensor and outside-header sensor in the header components, please check and correct.

(4) In section 4.1, the author mentioned that “section ab in the figure, “section bc in the figure” and “section cd in the figure”, the description of the test area divided (such as ab, bc and cd)is not standardized, it should be expressed more clearly.

(5) In Figure 5) A “Grouping schematic.”, what do R1, R2, and Rn represent respectively? please explain.

(6) In Figure 6 “Results of data filtering”, the units for the torque monitoring should be given in the vertical coordinate, please check and add.

1. In the introduction, the latest research progress of corn whole-process measurement method based on key condition data and multiple regression is not sufficient.
2. The meaning of some parameters in Pearson correlation coefficient formula in correlation analysis is not clear enough.
3. The maximum absolute error is 0.58 kg/s, and the maximum relative error is ±5.84%. The author should analyze the reasons of the  errors in detail. For example. Influence of friction and damping on measurement accuracy.
4. The information about the model, accuracy and manufacturer of the sensor and amplifier used is missing. Please supplement..
5. The description of the test plan, measurement steps and data processing in the text is not sufficient, please supplement.
6. The conclusion of the paper is not concentrated enough. Conclusion 1 and 5 are the general statements .These could be deleted.
7. Some curves in the paper are not clear enough. The physical unit of coordinates is missing in the figure. For example the fig.6, the physical unit of torque.
8. Some references cited were publish long years ago and should replace with recent papers.

Reviewer 3 Report

The article presents an interesting approach to the research of the silage harvester load based on the power and speed parameters of its key components.

I believe that the work is interesting and the proposed solution can be helpful in modifying the operating parameters of similar shearers to optimize their load. .

However, I have a few comments about the work.

1. I suggest to put a list of all symbols used in the work with an explanation and the units used at the beginning of the work.  At present, interpretation is difficult and it is sometimes based on speculation.

2. Marking references are wrong in Figure 1 - please correct.

3. I suggest to extend the information about the used sensors and their accuracy in the methodology.

4. lease complete the information on the methodology of measuring the mass of the processed raw material.

5. In the case of correlation and determination coefficients, I believe that accuracy to two decimal places (or three decimal places) is sufficient. I know that the mathematically obtained values are much more accurate, but they are to be used more to inform about the degree of matching and lower accuracy in this case should be sufficient

6. Line 362 mentions equation 19, but it should rather be 18, and additionally the equation itself (line 369) has not been numbered. Please correct.

7. In the presented work, the submitted conclusions are rather a summary of the work. My suggestion is to extend them, for example, to use the proposed solution (more precisely than it is in the last conclusion).

 Regards
