Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

Dear Authors,

Congrats on a well-documented and comprehensive review. The area taken into consideration is of high significance in the context of climate change in an arid area of the globe. The research questions are kindly addressed and answered in a very comprehensive manner. In the attached .pdf file you will find some of my minor observations, mainly related to minor language issues.

As I also mentioned in the attached file, "A Review" should be added to the title, otherwise, there is no sign of this study being a review paper. Except looking at the file type in the upper left part.

Therefore, I think that a Minor revision will do.

Kind regards.

1.       The novelty should be furtherly emphasized in the abstract.

2.       What can the present study bring to the international community? Rather than only local interests? This should be considered and improved the related part of the manuscript.

3.       Discussions should be conducted in deeper degree. Do not only review and state what have done previously.

4.       Introduction-Line 64-93, There is a problem in the logical connection between two paragraphs.

5.       Result-Line 176-180, “More than half (54%) of the 135 reviewed publications”- In the Figure 2, the number of publications were 141. In addition, the calculation ratio of each publication to need to be checked

6.       Results-Line 202, "Figure 4"- Is this description supposed to be Figure 3?

7.       Line 264, "Figure 4. Type of modelling approach which were used in the studies in the Lake Tana basin"- The singular and plural of the sentence are not uniform.

8.       Line 266, "The most widely applied hydrological model in the Lake Tana basin is SWAT which is used for hydrological response analysis (Figure 5)."- Sentences should be in the past tense.

9.       Line 412-413, The sentence missed the punctuation.

Reviewer 3 Report

This is a very well-organized and very interesting review. Although focused on a smaller Basin, the Lake Tana Basin, it provides a systematic and comprehensive summary of the progress made in hydrological connectivity of the basin. I read this article carefully, feeling is a kind of enjoyment. I think the paper can be published directly.
