Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

1.     What is the thermal property of RT31 and the 5Ah pouch cell? Why don’t use the real data of the thermal properties for this numerical study? The authors have mentioned the battery equivalent circuit model, how to couple the ECM data with BTMS design in this work?

2.     The pouch cell thickness is more than 1 cm, how to assemble with EcoPulse and E-fan by Airbus(∆x = 1cm)?

3.     There is a mistake in line 450 of 3098.15 K”.

4.     The mass of PCM was set to contribute just 5% of the total battery pack mass, is this reasonable? The PCM usage should be determined by the heat generated during battery charge/discharge.

5.     Fig.10-11 should be improved so that they can also be read independently from the original text.

Reviewer 2 Report

The manuscript reported a simulation of how the temperature of a system responds to PCM's criteria. The study suggested that latent heat and melting temperature were the two most decisive factors for PCM selection. The reviewer would like to recommend the manuscript after a minor revision.

1. The classification of PCM on page 3 should be presented in a table. Although readers can find all essential information by accessing ref. 18 and other references, it is still necessary to deliver a quick comparison of latent heat, melting temperature, and thermal conductivity among sub-categories. Based on that, readers can know which sub-category the study is working on (Table 3) and if some parameters should be adjected, which sub-category would be qualified.

2. Typos. Line 450. Please check the number "3098.15".
