Young Investigator Award

Dear Colleagues,

As Editor-in-Chief of Viruses, I am pleased to announce the recipient of the 2019 Viruses Young Investigator in Virology Prize: Dr. Jason McLellan, the University of Texas at Austin, Austin, TX, USA. Dr. McLellan’s research is focused on the structure and function of viral glycoproteins and the translation of basic information in this area to the development of therapeutic interventions. His work has led to significant advances in our understanding of broadly neutralizing antibody binding to the V1/ V2 domain of the HIV-1 envelope glycoprotein the structural basis for neutralization of respiratory syncytial virus.

We would like to thank the Selection Committee members Drs. K. Andrew White, Craig McCormick, A. Lorena Passarelli, Anna Cliffe and Jamil S. Saad for their evaluation of candidates.

Congratulations to Dr. McLellan for winning this very competitive Young Investigator Prize.
