Travel Award

Dear Colleagues,

As Editor-in-Chief of Viruses, I am pleased to announce the winners of the Viruses 2024 Travel Award: Dr. Selina Pasquero, a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Turin, Italy, and Dr. Bo Wang, a post-doctoral researcher at the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, USA.

Dr. Pasquero’s research focuses on the post-translational modification citrullination induced by viruses from the Herpesviridae and Coronaviridae families, aiming to generate novel host-targeted antiviral drugs.

Dr. Wang’s research is centered on investigating the zoonotic transmission, evolution, and pathogenesis of the hepatitis E virus, employing homologous animal models.

The awardees will each receive an honorarium of CHF 800 and an electronic certificate.

The evaluation process and final decision were challenging with so many high-quality applicants. We would like to thank all the applicants for submitting their applications. On behalf of the assessment committee, I congratulate the winners on their accomplishments.

Last but not least, we would like to thank the Award Committee members, Drs. Jeanmarie Verchot, Margaret Scull, Schuyler van Engelenburg, Shannon C. Kenney, and Véronique Ziegler-Graff for their evaluation of the candidates.
