Most governments, local organizations, tourism agents, and scholars have extensively promoted ecotourism in recent years. However, government policies have been ignored, public opinion has not been updated, the local tourism infrastructure is incomplete, and operational practices have been poor for a long time. This is because ecotourism has not made any empirical profits, and additionally, it has even incurred more practical costs, which have encouraged few tourism agents to execute and operate ecotourism correctly. The contributive findings of this study are the following: (1) Beyond the evaluated measurements of quantitative and qualitative analyses, the sustainable development of ecotourism essentially creates benefits for the local industry and the environment, and actively assists the industry in improving the business environment, in enhancing service quality, and in creating ecotourism benefits. (2) It is very apparent that the tourism offices of central and local governments, as well as related travel agents and local organizations, have to be trained with regard to the appropriate consumption of sightseeing products, with a consideration of productive yield and a critical focus on quality instead of quantity. Particular attention should also be given to local traveling capacity as well as support for regional development. The maintenance of the local cultural landscape or ecological integrity can directly offer tourists an unprecedented travel experience, which could encourage them to share their knowledge with others in society after traveling, and consequently promote the sustainable development of ecotourism. (3) The results point to the fact that the tourism offices of central and local governments, related travel agents, and local organizations require training in providing special assistance to local residents with regard to the conservation of natural resources. Special training must likewise be provided concerning environmental protection, allowing them to educate the tourists in terms of politely respecting local traditions, norms, and cultures while traveling, since these activities are directly related to the sustainable development of ecotourism. Predictably, beyond this research, these three contributive findings can directly become the research foundation of future works that intend to focus on the sustainability of global ecotourism. The scope of this article is fact finding and evaluation of activities for sustainable development in the field of shaping a pro-quality attitude in the educational system. As indicated by UNESCO, education for sustainable development needs a holistic approach. In this perspective, pro-quality education plays a double role—it includes contents that are innovative and closely related to sustainable development and it is a link connecting other activities of the educational system to achieve the objectives of education for sustainable development. This issue, as overlooked in most countries, is an attractive educational innovation, which can affect shaping students’ attitudes in a more effective way. For the purpose of this research, the author collected secondary data as a result of literature analysis, mostly including governing and archival acts of law, as well as raw data with the use of a diagnostic survey method with a questionnaire survey technique. The main stage of this method was collecting research data through surveying students, representatives of teaching staff, and school principals from schools in Poland. Research conducted by the author supported the proposed hypothesis, according to which the Polish educational system is not oriented towards shaping the pro-quality attitude of high school students. Collaborative professional learning is essential for teachers to work collectively in facilitating student learning. A program of Learning Community under Leadership for Learning was launched to support teacher learning in authentic situations in Taiwan. Applying the theory-driven evaluation model, the study aimed to investigate the impact of a program component of teacher learning communities (TLCs) on professional learning beliefs and behaviors. A sample of 226 elementary and junior high school teachers in Taiwan was surveyed and analyzed using structural equation modeling. The findings suggest that the experiences in TLCs had an impact on teachers’ professional learning beliefs and behaviors through their self-efficacy. Additionally, teacher self-efficacy was found to have a direct impact on their beliefs and behaviors, and beliefs were found to affect behaviors significantly. This study has expanded the understanding of self-efficacy in relation to professional learning beliefs and behaviors and provided practical insights for effective strategies for teacher development. Under the impact of digitization, many schools in Taiwan have started to actively operate social media. Using social media to release important school information can reduce the educational information asymmetry between schools and students. Educational information asymmetry may cause problems of adverse selection and moral hazard, and damage the rights and interests of students. The main purpose of this study is to explore the intentions of high school students to use school social media as a channel to obtain important information about their schools. A questionnaire survey was administered to the students of a high school in Taoyuan City, Taiwan, and the collected data were statistically analyzed. The research results of this study show that perceived usefulness, subjective norm, and trust had positively significant effects on the intention to use school social media; however, perceived ease-of-use, and perceived behavioral control did not have significant effects on the intention to use school social media. Through the operation of social media, schools can not only eliminate the adverse selection and moral hazard caused by information asymmetry but also improve their brand images and reduce their marketing costs. Gamification, an innovative tool for interacting with consumers that can be seen as a new trend in marketing, could enhance customer behavior, such as greater loyalty. This paper investigates the relationship between gamification, attitude, and customer behavioral intention. Using the Starbucks branded app as the tool, this study aims to identify the influencing factors of the app from a gamification perspective (achievement, challenge, rewards) on customer engagement, perceived playfulness, attitude, and behavior. The Technology Acceptance Model and Mechanics Dynamics Emotions were employed, using perceived playfulness as an intrinsic motivation of the Technology Acceptance Model. The subjects of this study were 581 customers in Taiwan who have used the Starbucks branded app. The primary data were gathered to test the hypothesis and propose a model. The findings showed that game elements have a positive influence on customer engagement and perceived playfulness. Gamification positively enhances customer engagement on the Starbucks branded app and creates joyful emotion and sustainable consumption. Thus, the game element positively affects subsequent behaviors, such as attitude and behavioral intention. Full article

This study focuses on the use of urban living labs (ULLs) as a teaching and learning strategy toward education for sustainable development (ESD) in higher education institutions (HEIs). The article presents an exhaustive literature review on the ESD approach in HEIs, the conceptualization and understanding of ULLs, and the use of ULLs as learning environments. Several ULL case studies in HEIs that seek to foster ESD through innovation and experimentation in real-world settings are presented. Each case describes the type, approach, characteristics, results, limitations, and challenges in relation to sustainability. It highlights the need for HEIs to adapt to the ESD approach and become role models for sustainability. It is concluded that ULLs are closely related to ESD and the SDGs, provide a practical and applied learning environment for students, encourage the active participation of students in identifying and solving sustainability problems in their local community, and encourage interdisciplinary collaboration between students and academics from different disciplines. All in all, ULLs can be an effective teaching and learning strategy in HEIs toward ESD. In addition, the lack of specific empirical results on the evaluation of ULL as teaching and learning tools toward ESD in HEIs is highlighted, which justifies the need for further research in this field.
