Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

This Special Issue aims to provide an overview of emerging intelligent computing technologies by shedding light on the progress made in artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), bioinformatics, and computational biology. It is also dedicated to emerging and challenging topics in the relevant fields of research. This issue mainly concentrates on theories and methodologies, as well as the emerging applications of intelligent computing.

The rapid development of AI, big data, and ML has promoted the transformation of traditional enterprises from process-driven, centrally controlled organizations to shared platforms and new forms of highly decentralized organizations. This transition has changed all aspects of business operations and production. Using emerging technologies to innovate has become a key research direction and can lead to breakthrough performances and significant growth. In recent years, intelligence technologies, such as image recognition, speech recognition, and neural networks, have been widely adopted to solve various optimization problems. These technologies cannot only promote innovations and the development of industries, but also play an important role in driving innovative development in all relevant aspects of the economy and society.

This research topic aims to present the latest advances in, and developments of, new methods, techniques, systems, and tools dedicated to applications of the above-mentioned enabling technologies.

Contributions to theories and practice, including but not limited to the following technical areas, are welcomed:

  • Sensing Technologies for Industries 4.0/5.0.
  • Internet of Things and Internet of Behavior for Industries 4.0/5.0.
  • Big Data Analysis for Industries 4.0/5.0.
  • Artificial Intelligence and Evolutionary Techniques for Industries 4.0/5.0.
  • Intelligent Monitoring and Control Systems.
  • Data-Driven Modelling and Optimization.
  • Machine and Deep Learning for Intelligent Systems.
  • Data-driven Scheduling Industrial Processes.
  • Data Analysis for Monitoring and Control of Industrial Operations.
  • Computational Intelligence Technologies for Industries.
  • Machine Learning for Sustainable Manufacturing, 3D Printing, and Remanufacturing.
  • Industrial Applications and Case Studies.

Please contact guest editors for any questions regarding your possible contributions to this Special Issue.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Sensors is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
