Dear Colleagues,
Thanks to the pervasive deployment of image sensors and LED lighting infrastructure, image-sensor-based communication, also known as optical camera communication (OCC), has attracted significant attention in recent years. Contrary to conventional optical wireless communication, image-sensor-based optical communication has inherent advantages, such as easy integration into existing embedded devices. Image-sensor-based communication also has wide applications such as in data communication, indoor localization, and sensing.
This Special Issue hence aims to highlight and assemble research and/or review articles on an image-sensor-based communication system, as well as its novel applications.
The potential topics include (but are not limited to) the following:
- Optical camera communication;
- Screen-camera communication;
- Novel modulation techniques for OCC;
- Integrated sensing and communication with image sensors;
- Vehicle-to-vehicle or Vehicle-to-infrastructure communication with image sensors;
- Underwater communication with image sensors;
- Indoor localization with OCC;
- Image-sensor-based communication for IoT.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Sensors is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
