Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Silk is a well-known natural material which is being utilized in various fields of life. Silk is a natural protein fibre, it can also be woven into textile products. The protein fibre of silk is composed mainly of fibroin and is produced by certain insect larvae to form cocoons. The best-known silk is obtained from the cocoons of the larvae of the mulberry silkworm Bombyx mori reared in sericulture. In recent years, applications area of silk has been broadly widened. Silk is a natural polymer which can be used as free-standing material however several polymers can be blended with silk to obtain desired properties which make it useful for certain applications. This special issue will welcome original research or comprehensive review on various applications of silk, silk derivatives, and composites of silk with different polymers. Researcher working in relevant research areas are encouraged to submit their potential research in this special issue.

Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Polymers is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
