Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Gastric cancer remains a significant global health concern, ranking as the fifth most common cancer and the third leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide. Despite advances in treatment modalities, the prognosis for gastric cancer patients remains poor due to late-stage diagnosis and limited effective therapies. Early detection and accurate clinicopathological assessment are critical for improving patient outcomes. This Special Issue aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the latest advancements in the clinicopathology and diagnosis of gastric cancer. It delves into various aspects of the disease, encompassing the exploration of the factors contributing to gastric cancer development; the underlying molecular and cellular mechanisms involved in gastric cancer initiation and progression; advances in molecular and genetic profiling techniques for gastric cancer diagnosis and personalized treatment approaches; the diverse clinical presentations and the spectrum of morphological changes associated with gastric cancer; current and emerging diagnostic tools for gastric cancer, including endoscopy and imaging techniques; the identification and validation of novel serum, tissue, and imaging biomarkers for early detection, prognosis assessment, and treatment response prediction; the integration of AI algorithms in image analysis and interpretation to improve diagnostic accuracy; the different treatment modalities available for gastric cancer, including surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, targeted therapy, and immunotherapy; factors influencing the prognosis of gastric cancer patients and the importance of regular follow-up to monitor for recurrence; strategies for multidisciplinary collaboration to enhance the diagnosis and management of gastric cancer; the ongoing challenges in gastric cancer diagnosis and promising avenues for future research and development.

By bringing together contributions from leading experts in the field, this Special Issue seeks to enhance our understanding of gastric cancer and contribute to improved diagnostic accuracy, ultimately leading to better patient management and prognosis. This Special Issue is now open for submissions. Reviews and original research articles, including both preclinical and clinical studies, are welcome.
