Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Eye injuries have been ranked among the most complicated and expensive to treat, with them affecting a huge number of people and causing long-term disabilities and severe social costs. Ocular trauma is one of the most under-recognized causes of vision loss in the developed world. Blunt or penetrating ocular trauma can lead to vision loss through cataract or glaucoma. Blunt trauma injuries are mainly reported to be related to automobile crashes, sporting activities, and military operations.

Undoubtedly, the application of new technologies has caused diagnosing ocular injuries to be more reliable and the therapeutic approach to be more effective, thus providing patients with better visual outcomes and quality of life.

Nonetheless, to understand the injury because of the trauma, a suitable experimental procedure is required. Blunt injuries from the trauma have been recognized as one of the most significant causes of ocular injuries followed by mechanical deformation in the eye components. However, due to the limitations of the experimental measurements, a numerical model of the eye could be applicable to enable us to measure the mechanical deformation of the eye components.

This Special Issue aims at creating a wide forum of discussion on ocular injuries using a combination of experimental and numerical methods to deepen our knowledge of clinical, diagnostic, biomechanical, and therapeutic aspects across every form of ocular trauma. The published papers will describe new developments in these areas.

High-quality articles containing original research results as well as review articles of exceptional merit will be warmly accepted.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Journal of Clinical Medicine is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
