Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

As an important tissue of the body, muscle is not only the foundation of exciting human life movements, but also the crucial energy metabolism organ of the body, and the fundamental guarantee of a healthy physique. Various neuromuscular disorders lead to skeletal muscle dysfunction, such as genetic and acquired muscle diseases, myasthenia gravis, motor neuron disorders and sarcopenia. These disorders seriously reduce the quality of life and increase the risk of death.

In this Special Issue, we will focus on studies exploring the molecular mechanisms and the treatment strategies of neuromuscular disorders. Our interests include, but are not limited to, the above-mentioned diseases, as well as the risk factors that may lead to these muscle diseases. In summary, our original intention is to update the latest pathogenic factors, mechanisms, and treatment strategies of neuromuscular diseases to provide useful references for fighting these disorders and improving the quality of life.

The neuromuscular disorders we would like to include in this article collection include the following: idiopathic inflammatory myopathies; sporadic inclusion body myositis (sIBM), muscular dystrophies; myotonic dystrophies, ion channel disorders, metabolic myopathies; mitochondrial disorders; myasthenia gravis; amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and other motor neuron disorders; sarcopenia. Discussions about treatment strategies for the above-mentioned diseases are also welcome in this Special Issue.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. International Journal of Molecular Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. There is an Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal. For details about the APC please see here. Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
