Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to announce the opening of a new Special Issue entitled "New Challenges in Rheumatoid Arthritis".

Rheumatoid arthritis represents a significant challenge in the field of health, both for patients and healthcare professionals alike. In this context, substantial progress has been made in understanding the etiopathogenesis of these diseases, with the identification of new biomarkers emerging as critical for both diagnosis and disease monitoring.

Within the key mechanisms underlying these diseases, chronic inflammation, immune dysfunction, and joint damage play central roles in pathophysiology. Therefore, it is essential to deepen our understanding of these mechanisms, as well as the cellular and molecular processes that trigger them. Genetic predisposition plays a crucial role, as certain gene variants are associated with an increased susceptibility to the disease. Apoptosis, autophagic activation, and other forms of cell death may represent highly promising therapeutic targets to halt the progression of these rheumatic diseases.

Furthermore, innovative therapies and pharmacological approaches are emerging as promising tools in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. The identification of new molecules and therapeutic approaches aimed at reducing inflammation and restoring immune homeostasis is an area of ongoing research and development.

In summary, this Special Issue aims to bring together the latest molecular advances in rheumatoid arthritis. It is our hope that this Issue will contribute to current knowledge and future therapeutic strategies, providing a better understanding of the etiopathogenesis of rheumatoid arthritis, aiding in the identification of accurate biomarkers, and providing a platform for the promotion of innovative therapies to enhance the quality of life of patients.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. International Journal of Molecular Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. There is an Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal. For details about the APC please see here. Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
