Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Radiomics is an emerging field within oncology that extracts valuable information from imaging data to better understand a tumor's biology, behavior, and its surrounding environment. Recent advances have significantly impacted the progress of radionics in oncology, with several major topics emerging at the forefront of research.

Molecular advances in radiomics: The combination of radiomics with molecular level information such as pathomics, genomics, and proteomics has opened new avenues for patient characterization, allowing for more specific, molecularly-targeted therapies. This has enhanced our understanding of tumor heterogeneity and provided deeper insights into the cancer development and progression. It has also shown promise in predicting treatment outcomes and patient prognosis, further personalizing care for each patient.

Integration of multi-omics data with deep-learning: Deep learning has emerged as a crucial driver in the integration of radiomics with multi-omics data. Its ability to automate and optimize the analysis of large, complex datasets has dramatically accelerated the extraction of actionable insights, leading to a holistic understanding of the molecular underpinning of the tumors and thereby advancing the practice of precision oncology.

This Special Issue seeks to highlight the latest achievements in these major topics within the context of cancer management. We encourage submissions focusing on molecular basis of radiomics, QA and phantom design, and multi-omics integration in radiomics research.
