Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

This Special Issue, “Research on Active Molecules and Natural Products”, in the International Journal of Molecular Sciences explores the current advancements in the field of natural products and their active molecules. Natural products have long been recognized as a significant source of bioactive compounds with immense therapeutic potential. This Special Issue focuses on the utilization of cutting-edge techniques and methodologies to accelerate the discovery, analysis, and application of natural products.

The collection of articles presents a comprehensive overview of various aspects related to the research on active molecules contained in natural products. The contributors highlight the innovative strategies used for the isolation, identification, and characterization of bioactive compounds derived from diverse natural sources, including plants, marine organisms, and microorganisms. The utilization of advanced analytical techniques, such as mass spectrometry, nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, and high-performance liquid chromatography, enhances the accuracy and efficiency of compound identification, structural elucidation, and the assessment of biological roles.

Moreover, this Special Issue emphasizes the exploration of natural products and their active molecules for various biomedical applications, including drug discovery, disease treatment, and prevention. The articles illustrate the potential of natural products in combating cancer, inflammation, microbial infections, and neurodegenerative disorders. Additionally, the utilization of computational approaches, such as molecular docking and virtual screening, further enhances the understanding of the interactions between bioactive compounds and their target proteins.

In conclusion, the “Research on Active Molecules and Natural Products” Special Issue presents a diverse range of research papers exploring the advancements in natural product discovery and their potential applications. By harnessing state-of-the-art techniques and methodologies, researchers aim to harness the therapeutic potential of natural products, paving the way for the development of novel drugs and therapeutic interventions. This collection of articles serves as a valuable resource for scientists, pharmacologists, and researchers interested in the exploration and exploitation of natural products for improved human health.

Please note: Component identification is necessary content in the study if the content involves extracts and mixtures.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. International Journal of Molecular Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. There is an Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal. For details about the APC please see here. Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
