Dear Colleagues,
Rheumatic diseases are a heterogeneous group of chronic immune-mediated inflammatory disorders.
In recent years, research in the pathogenetic mechanisms in rheumatic diseases has rapidly developed, resulting in the creation of new drugs. This progress allows for a deeper understanding of the substrate of the rheumatic diseases and a marked improvement in prognosis in, among others, rheumatoid arthritis, spondyloarthropathies, juvenile idiopathic arthritis, and systemic lupus erythematosus. However, a considerable number of patients remain unresponsive to treatment. In addition, an extremely important problem of these diseases is their coexistent pathologies, including cardiometabolic, gastrointestinal, hematological, malignant, and other diseases. There is still a need for research on the pathogenesis of rheumatic diseases, diagnostic tools, prognostic markers, and new therapeutic possibilities.
We encourage the submission of review articles, original research papers, and therapeutic experiences on the broad spectrum of clinical characteristics, prognosis, pathophysiology, and treatment of rheumatic diseases. This Special Issue aims to provide a comprehensive update on rheumatic diseases and conditions characterized by inflammation, including but not limited to autoimmunity.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
