Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The rapid advancement of technology and its integration into education have brought forth new challenges and opportunities in the field of foreign language learning and teaching. This Special Issue aims to provide a comprehensive platform for researchers, practitioners, and educators to share their insights and research findings related to language learning in the digital age. The Issue seeks to explore innovative practices, methodologies, and pedagogical approaches that have proven successful in addressing the technological challenges faced by language teachers and learners. The Special Issue welcomes empirical studies, case studies, and best practices that contribute to a deeper understanding of the challenges and innovations in this area.

  • Digital language learning: Strategies for developing digital literacy skills in language learners.
  • Technology-enhanced language learning environments: Innovative uses of technology to create immersive and interactive environments (AR, VR).
  • Gamification and digital tools in language education: Exploring the effectiveness of gamified approaches and digital tools in enhancing language learning.
  • Mobile-assisted language learning: Mobile technologies and applications for language learning inside and outside the classroom.
  • Use of Artificial Intelligence in Language Learning: Large-Language Models (LLMs) and chatbots.
  • Teacher professional development in the digital age: Training and support for language educators to effectively integrate technology in their teaching practices.

This Special Issue invites contributions that address these themes and other topics related to language teaching and learning in the digital age.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a double-blind peer-review process. Education Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
