Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Interest in medicinal and aromatic plants and their derivatives is growing as consumers become more aware of natural products. In fact, according to the World Health Organisation, approximately 80% of the world's population uses medicinal plants and their derivatives in health, food, cosmetics, recreation and agriculture.
In order to create a sustainable supply chain, it is necessary to further deepen our scientific knowledge of medicinal and aromatic plants, starting from the perspective of cultivation and the growing environment, which are fundamental aspects for improving the yield of medicinal and aromatic products. In addition to genetic factors, the chemical profiles and properties of plants are strongly modified by the cultivation technique and growing environment.
Furthermore, medicinal and aromatic plants, with a specific chemical profile, are showing promise for pest management in organic farming.
This Special Issue encourages the submission of high-quality scientific articles and reviews covering the latest developments in crop management, the effect of the growing environment, yield, and the chemical and biological characterization of medicinal and aromatic plants.
