Dear Author, The manuscript titled "Uniform root layer application at optimal timing can effectively improve root-knot nematode disease control in Rui yam” makes an interesting attempt and presents its findings clearly and convincingly. Although the paper has significant merits from the perspective of the findings, some minor issues need to be double-checked and rewritten before the Journal's revisions and queries, as well as further refinement. Correct all grammatical mistakes. If an abbreviation is used for the first time in the text, I advise spelling it out (L 179). Cross-reference all of the citations in the text with the references in the reference section. Make sure that all references have a corresponding citation within the text and vice versa. Include reference – L 49, 55, 58. L83 - Provide more information in detail on the experiment. Figure 1- revise with color and “outlet holes” for better visualization and re-draw the figure.  L199: mention the ladder size at the top. Figure 4: re-check and revise the “X” number.

Reviewer 3 Report

The work reported is interesting. However, there are some points that the authors need to address for publication. The points are given below:

A brief description of the experiment for chemical control and the specified location of the study was missing in the abstract.

The overall date of experiment was not clearly mentioned.

It should be uniform the chemical compounds used, in abstract and section 2.6. method of experimental design should reconsider

The application dates should not be replaced by the 1st and the 2nd for better tracking.

The application method test should be revised for clearer description.

For the 3 applications of chemicals and 2 different times, it would result in 9 different combinations, while in this study, it was only 4 treatments. Please, explain why?

In the discussion about Rui yam, citations were required.

Lack of discussion of chemical compounds for control root-knot nematode

In 362, a full-stop is missing.

Round 2

Reviewer 1 Report

I am not satisfied with the reply for the questions such as i) basis for selection off only two times application and also concentration ii) The other factors other than temperature also should have been studied
