Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

I have no suggestions for the authors. The manuscript is excellent. The authors have written an excellent review of the literature and they have summarized current evidences regarding the management of metastatic Colorectal Cancers. The manuscript is well written and well presented. The text is easely comprensible, useful and informative. The number of references is extensive, up to date, and properly selected. The only thing that I can do is to give my congratulation to the authors for the well work done.

We are extremely grateful for your kind comments and thank you for taking the time to review and respond to our manuscript.

Reviewer 2 Report

This paper is well-documented about the management and treatment for patients with Stage IV colorectal cancer.

Authors summarized and reviewed current evidence and guidelines for the management of mCRC and provided useful information for treatment planning for the mCRC.

This paper is suitable for the readers of this journal.

Minor comment:

The role of ctDNA measurement in colorectal cancer has recently been reported and discussed.

We have gone back and evaluated our inclusion of ctDNA in our manuscript and believe that adding the article from Nature Medicine you provided is a significant contribution to our article. We clarify that ctDNA is not currently included in guidelines, however, we have included a discussion of ctDNA under a new section titled “Future Directions of Stage IV CRC Management (page 17)”, where we discuss its potential and promising benefits.

Reviewer 3 Report

The authors presented a review of management and treatment of stage4 colorectal cancer.

All data and manuscipt were well-organinzed. Wide range of all contents was described systematically, and most of parts of mangement of stage4 colorectal cancer were included in manuscript.

For only minor revison, it would be helpful to improve the ms, if you could add the future of stage4 CRC management, including new promising biomarkers and targets for management and treatment like ctDNA, cancer stem cell, or metabolic target, etc.

Thank you for your recommendation. As a reflection of your insightful comments, we attempt to improve our manuscript by adding a new section “Future Directions of Stage IV CRC Management (page 17)”, where we discuss promising treatment targets and potential management/staging tools currently being explored.
