Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

Aiming at the support problem of deep roadway with high in-situ stress, the authors studied the spatial distribution law of surrounding rock plastic failure and grouting diffusion under different ground stress by numerical method, and proposed the corresponding optimization method of bolt-grouting support. The topic is very interesting. Some revision still needs to be done to improve the manuscript.

  1. Is there any specific basis or relevant literature for the selection of lateral pressure coefficient? Why is it designed this way? Some literatures of current progress about this study should be added.

  1. There are some small mistakes in the article, which should be avoided. For example, "strata[5, 6]" does not have an interval character with the text.
  2. Figure 1 is not clear. For example, the arrow colors of the stress at the top of the model are not uniform; the characters of the Cartesian coordinate system are not clear, etc.
  3. The grouting pressure data in Table 1 is wrong, which confuses the relationship between the grouting hydraulic head H and the grouting pressure p.
  4. "Roadway" in Figure 2 is misspelled as "Rodway".
  5. There are “Error! Reference source not found” in lines 194, 197 and 207 on page 5 in this article, and there are similar errors later.
  6. The "Roof Shoulder" in line 263 on page 7 is not marked in Figure 3. Is it a spelling mistake or some other reason?
  7. The direction and distance of grout diffusion in Table 2 and Figure 6 are not clear and should be supplemented.
  8. The format of 15° in Figure 11 is not standardized.
  9. "(Figure 13bbbbbb)" in line 12 on page 15 should be "(Figure 13b)".
  10. The conclusions of this paper may need to be further refined.

Reviewer 2 Report

I have only a few minor comments.

1. Is it necessary to have equations (1) to (5)?

2. Please make Fig. 1 to be clearer.

3. Please add some figures for the validation of the presented models.

4. Please consider referring to these relevant works.

4.1 Design equation for stability of shallow unlined circular tunnels in Hoek-Brown rock masses.

4.2 Lower bound stability analysis of plane strain headings in Hoek-Brown rock masses

4.3 Stability of dual circular tunnels in a rock mass subjected to surcharge loading.

4.4 Stability of unlined rectangular tunnels in rock masses subjected to surcharge loading.
