Please avoid the use of lumping references such as [1-5]. Mention each source for its novel contribution and/or to support your statement one by one.

Please set the background explain how the open data allows such analysis, how the modelling and forecasting works in the air quality field and why your model is preminent to be mentioned in your article. See recent high-ranked articles related to those issues as https://doi.org/10.1016/j.energy.2020.118803

It is a very interesting work, well developed and presented. I have only minor comments:

  1. Define abbreviations when they first appear in the text, such as FDDA in line 12, CMAQ in line 16, etc.
  2. Add the names of chemical elements in front of the symbols when they first appear in the text.

The paper Development of the Global to Mesoscale Air Quality Forecast and Analysis System (GMAF) and its Application to PM2.5 Forecast in Korea presents some interesting results for the community. The structure of the paper is logical and the methodology is clearly defined. The abstract offers concise and correct information on the remaining part of the article. The results are clear and the conclusion part is concise. In my opinion, the manuscript is suitable for publication after some minor revisions and typing corrections. Please find bellow my specific comments:

Line 10 and 51 – please add: “This paper presents the development of the global”

Lines 56- 60 – are not very clear, please rephrase. There are more surface monitoring stations in urban areas?

Lines 78 /79 - please add more information and or citations about the air monitoring networks

 Line 124 – replace ; with :

Lines 174 -179 please rephrase, I find it hard to follow.

Line 217 – please replace presented with presents

Lines 243, 247, 248 and in the entire manuscript – please use the same format of the date.

Line 293 – please ad > As listed in Table 3

Line 310 - Remove one .

Line 486 - The frequency of occurrence of events in this study is several times higher than those are in the literature referred in the section 2.6.3. please rephrase.
