Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

This Special Issue, entitled ‘Wastewater Treatment and Water Ecological Environment Protection and Restoration’ provides a comprehensive overview of the scientific context related to wastewater treatment and the protection and restoration of the ecological water environment. It emphasizes the significance of research in this area, highlighting the environmental and ecological challenges associated with water pollution and degradation. It discusses the growing concerns regarding the impact of human activities on aquatic ecosystems, the need for sustainable water management, and the urgency required to protect and restore aquatic environments.

The aim of this Special Issue is to provide a platform for the in-depth exploration, discussion, and dissemination of research findings in the fields of wastewater treatment and of the protection and restoration of the ecological water environment. It aims to connect these research areas with the broader scope of the journal. Through addressing water-related issues, this Special Issue aligns with the journal's interests in environmental sciences, ecology, and sustainable resource management. It seeks to contribute to the journal's mission of advancing scientific knowledge and practical solutions in water resource management and environmental protection.

In this Special Issue, original research articles and reviews are welcome. Research areas may include (but are not limited to) the following:

  1. Innovative wastewater treatment technologies: highlighting emerging methods and technologies for efficient and sustainable wastewater treatment.
  2. Biodiversity conservation in aquatic ecosystems: focusing on the protection and restoration of aquatic biodiversity and natural habitats.
  3. Water quality monitoring and management: strategies for monitoring, assessing, and managing water quality in diverse environments.
  4. Ecosystem rehabilitation and restoration: exploring approaches to rehabilitating degraded aquatic ecosystems and rejuvenating their ecological functions.
  5. Sustainable water resource management: investigating practices and policies for sustainable water resource management, especially in the context of urbanization and climate change.
  6. Impact of anthropogenic activities: analyzing the effects of human activities on aquatic environments and proposing mitigation measures.

We look forward to receiving your contributions.
