Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

This Special Issue ‘Green Engineering and Sustainable Nano Manufacturing’ aims collate research papers focused on novel topics related to green and sustainable nano manufacturing technologies, and provide a platform for authors and readers to engage in discussions about the recent progress and future development scope of this field.

This Special Issue, including the editorial process for the papers that will be accepted herein, will be supervised by Guest Editors (GEs), who are experts in the subject domain. Once published, these papers will be compiled and made accessible on a dedicated page of the journal's website, making it a valuable resource for researchers and professionals interested in green and sustainable nano manufacturing. For any inquiries regarding this Special Issue, individuals can contact the journal's Editorial Office.

In the ever-evolving landscape of science and technology, the realm of sustainable collaborative manufacturing, enriched by innovative concepts such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Lean Six Sigma, Design for Six Sigma and TRIZ, has gained profound significance. Dr. Yousef Amer, a distinguished academic, researcher and industry expert with over 18 years of experience, has been at the forefront of pioneering research in this field. His work not only addresses the domains of green and sustainable nano manufacturing but also delves into operations, logistics, supply chain management, modeling and simulation, business process reengineering, sustainable practices, artificial intelligence and innovation, aligning with the modern world's growing emphasis on environmental responsibility. His experience, particularly in sustainable collaborative manufacturing, has helped to bridge the gap between nano-scale manufacturing processes and eco-friendly practices.

The global challenges of resource scarcity, environmental degradation, and the need for efficiency in manufacturing processes have converged, making it imperative for researchers and practitioners to explore sustainable and collaborative manufacturing solutions. Dr. Amer's background and expertise in these domains position him as a driving force in tackling these challenges. With over 100 publications under his belt, as well as his experience in guiding 17 PhD students, he exemplifies the commitment to advancing knowledge and fostering the next generation of experts.

Therefore, under the expert guidance of Dr. Yousef Amer, we are launching a new Special Issue titled, ‘Green Engineering and Sustainable Nano Manufacturing’,  which aims to explore the intersection of nano manufacturing and sustainable practices, and provide a platform for in-depth discussions, whilst also serving as a catalyst for innovation in this field. We invite submissions from scholars, researchers, and practitioners who share a common interest in furthering the concept of sustainable manufacturing via integrating cutting-edge technologies and design processes such as AI, Lean Six Sigma, Design for Six Sigma and TRIZ.

The subject matter of this Special Issue falls within the scope of the journal Sustainability, and we believe this endeavor will significantly contribute to the journal's mission of disseminating knowledge and fostering a community committed to environmentally responsible nano-manufacturing.

Potential themes include the following:

  • AI-Enhanced Nano-Manufacturing: Exploring the role of Artificial Intelligence in optimizing nano-scale manufacturing processes for sustainability.
  • Lean Six Sigma Applications in Nano-Manufacturing: Investigating the implementation of Lean Six Sigma principles to streamline and enhance nano-scale production while reducing environmental impact.
  • Design for Six Sigma in Sustainable Nano-Manufacturing: Examining methodologies for designing nano-products and processes with a focus on minimizing waste and resource consumption.
  • Collaborative Approaches for Sustainable Nano-Manufacturing: Discussing collaborative strategies among stakeholders to promote sustainable practices in the nano-manufacturing ecosystem.
  • Nano-Manufacturing Materials and Techniques for Green Technologies: Highlighting innovative materials and techniques that contribute to the development of sustainable nano-manufactured products.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Sustainability is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
