Biotechnology is defined in the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity as "any technology that uses biological systems, living organisms, and their derivatives to make or change products and processes with a specific application." The most important applied fields of biotechnology are bioprocess technologies, enzymes, waste, environmental, renewable resources, the production of transgenic plants and animals, health, pharmaceuticals, and food industries, and in the tree of biotechnology, the most important scientific fields underpinning biotechnology are physiology, plant and animal, cellular and molecular biology, immunology, microbiology, biochemistry and biophysics, genetics, and chemical engineering. There is no doubt that humanity is looking forward to the success of biotechnology in the future and knows that without it, it will not be possible to solve many problems and challenges. For this reason, most countries have made large investments in this field and are committed to the development of biotechnology.
This Special Issue on “New Research on Applied Biotechnology” seeks high-quality works focusing on the latest novel research in Applied Biotechnology. Topics include, but are not limited to:
- Biotechnologically relevant enzymes and proteins;
- Biochemical and bioprocess engineering;
- Biofuel or bioproduct development;
- Geneticist and genome engineering;
- Biomedical engineering;
- Bioenergy and biofuels;
- Industrial microbiology.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Processes is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
