About Pollutants

Aim and Scope

Pollutants (ISSN 2673-4672) is an international, peer-reviewed open access journal focusing on contaminants that are introduced into the natural environment, beyond permitted limits, and cause measurable deleterious effects on air, water, soil, or living organisms.

We encourage scientists to submit their high-quality research work related to chemical, biological and physical compounds that lead to pollution, including impact assessment studies and corresponding remediation strategies to promote the scientific utilization and effective mitigation of pollutants.

The aims of Pollutants encompass the ever-increasing borders of environmental sciences which include but are not limited to Public Environmental Occupational Health, Toxicology, Water Resources, Geosciences, Atmospheric Chemistry, Environmental Microbiology, Ecosystem Restoration, Environmental Analyses and Monitoring, Assessment of Risks and Interactions of Pollutants in the Environment, Conservation Biology, Sustainable Agriculture.

Result from various human activities include both organic and inorganic contaminants and few examples are presented below:

Biological pollutants

Biological pollutants are substances in our environment which come from living organisms and few examples are presented below:

• mold and fungi

• animal saliva, dander, urine
• dust mites, insects’ parts
• pathogens

Physical pollutants

Pollutants characterized by their influence on the environment and its inhabitants caused by forces and operations of physics, few examples are presented below:

• light
• noise
• vibration
• UV
• electromagnetic pollutants
• radioactive pollutants
• thermal pollutants
• litter

Pollutants Monitoring

Processes, activities and methods that need to take place to characterize, monitor and control the quality of the environments and its inhabitants, few examples are presented below:

Pollutants removal is carried out using various technologies; few examples below:

• wastewater treatment

Pollutants Control and Prevention

Control involves measures to limit the damage caused by pollutants. Prevention means avoiding or minimizing the production of pollutants before they are released into the environment. Few examples below:

• novel production techniques
