Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Bacterial diseases in swine production globally remain a significant challenge impacting production performance, profitability, and animal welfare. To treat, control and eliminate these bacterial disease challenges, antimicrobials are administered through feed, water, or individual injection. Due to potential issues regarding antimicrobial resistance in animal and human pathogens, changes in the approach to antimicrobial use are ongoing in different regions of the world. The scope of this Special Issue is focused on manuscripts related to alternative approaches to antimicrobial use, approaches to reduce antimicrobial use such as vaccination or disease elimination, and specific monitoring systems to provide more insights into antimicrobial use under field conditions. Antimicrobial resistance of relevant swine bacterial pathogens is also of interest to this issue.
