Fundamentals of Membrane Processes

A section of Membranes (ISSN 2077-0375).

Section Information

“Fundamentals of Membrane Processes” is a section of the MDPI journal Membranes. The Section Board consists of distinguished scientists that support the Section Editor-in-Chief. This section targets the rapid publication of manuscripts related to all essential aspects of membrane processes, including the preparation of novel membrane materials, membrane characterization using advanced analytical techniques, new emerging separation processes, as well as various theoretical approaches toward the description of membrane transport and separation.

The topics include (but are not limited to):

  • Membrane fabrication (e.g., polymeric, ion exchange, ceramic, mixed matrix, nanostructured)
  • Current advances in membrane separation processes
  • Membrane characterization and visualization
  • Fundamentals of membrane separation and transport
  • Novel membrane processes
  • Principles of membrane fouling and fouling mitigation
