Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The construction industry is a significant contributor to environmental degradation, particularly resulting from the production of building materials, waste generation, and energy consumption. Sustainable construction practices, including recycling and the use of recycled materials, have emerged as essential measures to reduce the environmental impact of construction activities.

One aspect of sustainable construction is the recycling of materials from old pavements to create new ones. Recycled materials, such as reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) and recycled concrete aggregate (RCA), can be used in the construction of new pavements, reducing the demand for new materials and the amount of waste generated.

Engineering new pavements that are durable, safe, and environmentally friendly is another critical aspect of sustainable construction. Innovative pavement design and construction techniques, such as permeable pavements, are being developed to enhance pavement performance and to reduce the impact of construction activities on the environment.

This Special Issue highlights recent advances in sustainable construction practices, pavement recycling, and engineering of new pavements and covers topics such as the use of recycled materials in pavement construction, pavement performance evaluation, and innovative pavement design and construction techniques. The contributions to this Special Issue should provide insights into the latest research and development in sustainable construction practices and should pave the way for a more sustainable future in the construction industry.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Materials is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
