Dear Colleagues,
Graphene is a honeycomb-like carbon-based two-dimensional (2D) crystal consisting of benzene-like rings with strong in-plane sp2 bonding. When it is synthesized with the aid of a substrate, the carbon atoms rearrange in the graphene structure due to a substrate-mediated self-assembly process. Graphene has attracted the attention of the scientific community because of its exceptional electrical, optical, thermal, and mechanical properties. The modification of graphene and the utilization of these materials in the fabrication of nanocomposites with different polymer matrixes have been explored. Different organic polymers have been used to fabricate graphene-filled polymer nanocomposites with a range of methods. In parallel, new routes for the preparation of graphene materials that envisage fascinating applications in areas such as environmental science, biosensor, bio-medicine, and energy have grown without stopping.
This Special Issue will cover recent advances in the structure, preparation, and properties of graphene and graphene composites.
