Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The development of critical care over the past decades has led to improved patient outcomes and reduced mortality. Caring for critically ill patients has shifted from the simple application of current protocols and guidelines to a more personalized approach. This has been possible due to recent advances in the understanding of key pathophysiological and immunological principles of acute illness. Moreover, the multidisciplinary care of critically ill patients is an integral part of every modern healthcare system, ensuring improved outcomes and reduced mortality, which are guaranteed by the prompt development of diverse diagnostic as well as therapeutic modalities and supported by the continuous education of health workers.

This Special Issue on “Critical Care: Towards the Era of Precision Medicine” welcomes the submission of work related to the most recent developments and challenges in providing state-of-the-art, evidence-based, and personalized care to critically ill patients. We invite all researchers from associated disciplines who focus on the care of acutely ill patients to submit original articles or reviews on their areas of expertise, enhancing the multidisciplinary nature of modern critical care.
