Mediastinal Lesions: Novel Diagnostics and Therapeutic Approaches

The mediastinum is a vital anatomical structure that can give rise to numerous pathological conditions. The thymus is a hallmark anatomical structure that is often involved in its various processes; however, it is owing to such involvement that some of the most common tumors of the thymus are the ones that take center stage. Epithelial tumors such as thymoma, thymic carcinoma, and germ cell tumors are among the neoplasms most often seen in association with the thymic gland.  In general, thymic or mediastinal pathology is uncommon. A wealth of literature addressing the most prevalent tumoral conditions is already available.  Contrary to what is currently available in the literature, this Special Issue would like to highlight common conditions that either represent reactive processes or medical conditions that require attention.  In addition, most tumoral pathology is commonly associated with adult individuals, therefore enabling pediatric medical conditions, tumor-like conditions, reactive or infectious processes, congenital abnormalities, or simply unusual presentations of common pathology to be highlighted.  We would like to be inclusive of single case reports, series of cases, diagnostic imaging, pathology, medicine, epidemiological studies, etc., whether in adults or children. The aim is to highlight unusual presentations, histopathological features, immunohistochemical pitfalls, or any other feature that may increase our knowledge of the mediastinum. We look forward to receiving your manuscripts.
