Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Intra-abdominal infection (IAI) is a major cause of morbidity and mortality and a common origin of sepsis and septic shock. IAIs result from the inflammatory process originating from infection or perforation of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, such as appendicitis, cholecystitis, diverticulitis, peptic ulcer disease, and obstruction of the GI tract or mesenteric vasculature, such as malignant obstruction or mesenteric infarction.

Reducing morbidity or mortality, early diagnosis, and treatment including preoperative care and surgical intervention is mandatory.

This Special Issue is devoted to articles that review diagnostic, therapeutic strategies in IAIs, including clinical and basic research.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website.
