Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Central airway disorders, ranging from fixed or dynamic tracheobronchial obstruction to benign or malignant airway tumors, fistulae, and chronic obstructive inflammatory diseases, comprise a vast area of different pathophysiological entities with one common symptom: dyspnea.

Diagnosis and treatment modalities have greatly evolved during the last years and include a variety of flexible and rigid interventional bronchoscopic modalities with or without stent placement, as well as surgical procedures spanning from end-to-end anastomosis and sleeve resection to tracheal reconstruction and transplantation. The borderline between Interventional Pulmonology and Thoracic Surgery is blurring more than ever. Highly specialized pulmonologists and thoracic surgeons alike work together to form referral centres, increase their clinical experience, and rely on each other.

In this Special Issue, we welcome authors to submit reviews and original papers on the clinical advances in interventional bronchoscopic and surgical management, and the assessment and follow up of benign or malignant central airway disorders.
