Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

We are very pleased to announce our proposal of a Special Issue, entitled “State of the Art: Diagnosis and Treatment Strategies for Hepatocellular Carcinoma”. Clinical diagnosis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is mainly made on the basis of laboratory tests and radiological imaging. However, we occasionally experience several HCC patients who do not fulfill these criteria. Other techniques are required to diagnose such patients. On the other hand, a therapeutic algorithm for HCC has been proposed depending on tumor status (size, number and location) and hepatic reserve. The development of immune checkpoint inhibitors has dramatically improved the treatment outcomes. However, the current treatment is not fully personalized compared to those in other types of cancers. Nutritional intervention is also necessary for HCC patients with cachexia and/or sarcopenia.

This Special Issue focuses on the current topics regarding the clinical diagnosis of HCC, including novel tumor markers, circulating tumor cells and radiological imaging. Novel studies on precision medicine or nutritional intervention for HCC patients are also welcome for this Special Issue.

We look forward to the submission of many interesting manuscripts, including original articles and review articles.
