What is migraine?

  • Discuss that migraine is only a phenotype it is caused my multiple genetic and neurochemical abnormalities (which is why there are no agents universally effective in migraine treatment

Why are migraines bad for you?

  • Discuss pain and disability, but also comorbidities including cardiovascular and psychiatric ones
  • Progression of migraine predicted by burden of migraine at the baseline
  • Current acute medications; their uses and limitations
  • Current preventive medications; their uses and limitations
  • Agents that are being currently studied and their rationale
