Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

It is with great pleasure that I announce this Special Issue of the Journal of Clinical Medicine on coronary revascularization; it is intended as an update and a review of the topic that has been at the center of the cardiology debate for years and whose evolution and clarification compare various aspects in both the interventional and surgical fields related to diagnosis and the most appropriate treatment. The progressive increase in the age of patients and the consequent worsening of the anatomical situation, both coronary and systemic, keep alive the debate on the comparison between interventional and surgical methods. In the context of the latter, this worsening, which translates to an increased treatment-related risk, represents a stimulus to choose minimally invasive approaches and/or hybrid solutions. After a very long period of time in which the debate has been focused on the left internal mammary artery/saphenous vein graft (LIMA/SVG) strategic binomial, it seems necessary to abandon the one-fits-all solution and propose customized treatment regarding the access route, the choice of target territories and grafts, and the planning of joint strategies with interventional cardiology. Finally, our intention is to include a focus on gender and race difference, both for indications and strategic choices and for results.
