Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

There have been many recent advances in the treatment and surgical management of colorectal disease processes and this remarkable progress has included the introduction and rapid adoption of advanced minimally invasive robotic and endoscopic techniques; changes in the treatment paradigm of colorectal cancer, including neoadjuvant therapy for locally advanced disease; the possibility of organ preservation and non-operative management in the setting of a clinical complete response, and the potential for long-term survival in patients with distant metastatic disease who were historically considered unresectable; the development of new biologic agents in the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease; and advancements in the surgical management of various anorectal diseases and pelvic floor dysfunction. In this Special Issue, we invite authors to submit manuscripts on recent updates and remaining challenges in the surgical management of colorectal disease.
